Chapter 334 - 335: Laney Becomes Queen!
Chapter 334 - 335: Laney Becomes Queen!
Angel City, Vesperion Square.
Under the gaze of tens of thousands of Angels, that towering Twelve-Winged Statue which symbolized the supreme faith of the Angel Race...
Let out a dull, ominous crack without any warning!
"Krak—"
A hideous fissure spread upward from the base of the statue, in an instant running several meters across.
The entire square erupted in an uproar!
All the Angels stared, dumbfounded, looking in disbelief at this horrifying scene.
The five Totem Ninth Tier Angels who sensed the anomaly had their expressions change drastically and instantly appeared around the statue.
"What’s going on?!"
Milos, the Order Angel, cried out in shock, his eyes filled with doubt and alarm.
"Could something have gone wrong inside the Probatus?!"
They all knew that this statue was tightly linked to the Probatus.
Though they were not sure what material it was made of, they had tried before...
Even if they attacked this statue with their full strength, the damage they could inflict was negligible.
And now...
The entire statue had actually split open with a rift several meters long.
"Boom—"
As if to answer their terror, a crimson phantom of the Fire of Destruction spewed out from the fissure.
In an instant it flooded the surrounding space, releasing a terrifying aura that could burn all things to ash!
Kieran Sinclair, the Seraph, stared at that hideous crack, his gaze turning utterly dark.
The aura around him began to surge out of control, violently churning, a suffocating Mantle of Slaughter spreading through the air.
His daughter Lazuli was still inside the Trial Space! If this anomaly meant the space was collapsing...
The moment he thought that Lazuli might meet with disaster, a terrifying scarlet light flooded into Kieran’s eyes, as if mountains of corpses and seas of blood were rising behind him!
The temperature of the entire Holy City plunged to freezing in an instant!
"Kieran! Calm down!"
Seeing this, the Order Angel hurried forward to stop him, his voice heavier than ever before. "The situation is unclear. You must not act rashly!"
However, the killing intent boiling around Kieran was already like a volcano on the verge of eruption!
"Even if you want to tear open the space right now and force your way into the Trial Space..."
The Order Angel’s voice carried unprecedented gravity:
"You can’t foresee what will happen if you do! What if you cause the already-mutated Trial Space to completely collapse?!"
These words were like a bucket of cold water, instantly dousing the violent aura that was about to explode from Kieran.
His tightly clenched fists slowly loosened, and the surging killing intent around him receded like the tide.
He had to admit that Milos was right—
No one could predict the consequences of forcing the space open, and he couldn’t gamble Lazuli’s safety on an unknown possibility.
However, just as this suffocating standoff dragged on—
"Buzz!"
The space suddenly rippled violently, and two figures, wreathed in dazzling light, stumbled into existence in the center of the square!
It was Laney and Leah, whom Aster Grant had sent out ahead of time!
Every gaze in the square instantly locked onto them!
Kieran’s figure flashed to appear before the two like teleportation, his Speed so fast it left afterimages.
With his heart gripped by Lazuli’s safety, he even forgot to restrain that terrifying Totem Ninth Tier pressure.
His overwhelming aura crashed down on Laney and Leah like a mountain, draining the color from their faces; they almost couldn’t breathe and couldn’t even lift their heads!
"Kieran! Calm down!"
The Angel of Judgment reacted with lightning speed, stepping forward.
An equally powerful aura spread out gently, like an Energy Barrier, cutting off Kieran’s oppressive might.
"Your daughter is surely fine! But like this, how are they supposed to open their mouths and explain?"
At the Angel of Judgment’s reminder, Kieran snapped back to himself and immediately withdrew every trace of his aura.
He took a deep breath, forcibly pressing down the surging turmoil in his chest. His gaze burned as he stared at the still-terrified Laney and Leah, his voice low and urgent:
"What exactly happened inside the Trial Space?"
"Why didn’t Lazuli come out with you?"
Laney opened her mouth, about to explain...
"Krak! Krak-krak—!"
A series of even harsher, denser cracking sounds suddenly exploded from the Twelve-winged Statue behind everyone!
That fissure, originally only a few meters long, was now wildly spreading and branching at a speed visible to the naked eye, in an instant webbing across more than half the statue!
Countless shards of stone and motes of light spurted from the cracks, the entire statue emitting a groan of unbearable strain, as if it would completely collapse in the very next second!
"Boom!!!"
The fissures on the Twelve-winged Statue suddenly burst with a blinding light, and a torrent of violent Energy surged out from within like a dam breaking!
That Energy carried an extreme aura of Destruction, yet was bizarrely laced with an unshakable Guardian will; two utterly different Law Powers crudely intertwining and colliding...
Forming a Destruction storm capable of tearing space itself, sweeping out toward all directions!
"Damn it!" The Angel of Judgment’s expression changed drastically; he was the first to react. "The Energy’s out of control! All units, defend!"
He roared, unleashing his Totem Ninth Tier Power without the slightest reservation.
It transformed into a thick golden curtain of light, standing at the very front!
The Order, Wisdom, and Guardian Great Angels also knew how critical the situation was, and instantly pushed their Power to the limit...
Four mighty Energy Barriers layered atop one another, attempting to join forces to block this terrifying impact!
However, this rampaging Energy, drawn from the very foundation of the Trial Space, was far too horrifying!
The joint defensive light screen erected by the four Great Angels let out a groan of unbearable strain the instant it met the Energy storm; it trembled violently as cracks raced across its surface!
Their faces paled at a speed visible to the naked eye, their bodies trembling slightly—clearly, they were barely holding on.
Only the Seraph, Kieran Sinclair, after his initial shock, slowly loosened his clenched fists instead.
He carefully focused his Perception on that Destruction storm, on the familiar aura within—
Yes. Within it was indeed mixed the aura of Lazuli’s Guardian Law and Destruction Law!
"Kieran! What are you still standing there for! Do something! We can’t hold it!"
Milos, the Order Angel, already had a trace of golden blood at the corner of his mouth; his voice, tinged with urgent panting, shouted anxiously toward Kieran.
The other three Great Angels also shot him anxious looks.
Kieran drew a deep breath, a hint of complexity flashing through his eyes.
He took a single step forward, crimson war flames erupting skyward from his entire body!
That scorching, domineering aura instantly suppressed all other Energy fluctuations in the square!
He did not move to reinforce that tottering joint defense; instead, he walked straight to stand directly before the Energy storm!
Under the stunned gazes of the four Great Angels, he slowly opened his arms toward that Destruction-laden torrent of Energy—
"Scatter."
There was no earth-shaking clash, only a calm whisper imbued with supreme authority.
That frenzied Energy, enough to obliterate half the Holy City, the instant it touched the war flames around Kieran Sinclair’s body...
It was actually like a docile stream meeting a searing brand, letting out a "chh-chh" hiss, and then...
It simply evaporated into thin air, dispersing into nothingness!
The entire field fell deathly silent.
The four Great Angels, still holding their defensive postures, stared dumbfounded at the scene before them.
As if for the first time truly realizing to what terrifying Realm the Power of this long-border-garrisoned Seraph had reached.
Kieran slowly withdrew his hands, his gaze once more falling upon the crack-riddled statue, his eyes now filled only with pure worry.
With that catastrophic Energy storm resolved by Kieran Sinclair through sheer absolute strength, the suffocating tension on-site finally eased slightly.
Laney and Leah, shaken but recovering from their fright, began, under the questions of the Great Angels, to haltingly recount everything that had happened inside Probatus.
From the choice in the Guardian Trial, to the absolute Power Lazuli displayed in the Destruction Trial, and then to Lazuli ultimately passing the crown to Laney.
Everything was laid bare.
When he heard that Lazuli had voluntarily relinquished the King of Angels’ crown and transferred it to Laney, a faint, hard-to-detect ripple flashed through Kieran’s eyes.
He fell silent for a moment and said nothing more, only slowly nodding his head.
To him, the throne itself was meaningless.
The only reason he had been willing to pour in his full strength earlier was simply because his daughter Lazuli wanted it.
Now, since this was Lazuli’s own choice—to entrust this responsibility and authority to Laney—he would unconditionally respect and support his daughter’s decision.
His gaze slowly swept across the Angel of Judgment, and the Order, Wisdom, and Guardian Great Angels; his eyes were calm, yet carried an unquestionable majesty.
The war flames around him, not yet fully withdrawn, flowed faintly, as if congealing the very air nearby.
"The situation is already clear."
Kieran’s voice was not loud, yet it clearly carried through the whole square. "From this moment on, Laney is the new king of the Angel Race."
He paused slightly, his gaze falling on the four Great Angels like a tangible weight, as he asked, enunciating each word:
"You four—who approves, and who opposes?"
