Chapter 836 - 829: A Fatal Incident
Bai Yiran’s voice was not quiet, as the attendees who had been chatting softly heard her clearly. Suddenly, the entire room fell silent, stunned, as they looked at those few high-ranking company decision-makers standing in the center speaking.
Chairman Liu’s face turned ashen, as he glanced at the gazes directed at him from all around, and his eyes flashed with malice. "Bai Yiran, talk with evidence, otherwise it’s slander! You better be responsible for what you say; you’re young, but use your brain a bit!"
"Evidence, is it?" Bai Yiran glared coldly at Chairman Liu. "Uncle Liu, do you think I would babble nonsense in public if I didn’t have evidence? Or do you really think I am just a brainless fool? Should I present the evidence publicly so everyone can see the despicable and shameless things you’ve done?"
Upon hearing Bai Yiran say this, Chairman Liu didn’t dare to act hastily. He looked at Chairman B, who shook his head, indicating he too was unaware of the current situation.
Chairman Liu gritted his teeth, uncertain of what to say for a moment. The technology was indeed plagiarized; he saw the new technology developed by two just-graduated university students at a technology exhibition. He saw the business opportunity then, so he deceived those two students with little social experience and used their technology. Later, the two students discovered this and created quite a stir, but ultimately chose to swallow their anger under his threats and inducements. After all, how could two new graduates contend with old foxes in the business world?
But how did Bai Yiran come to know about this?
"Uncle Liu, you’re certainly curious about how I know this, right?" Bai Yiran chuckled. "Know the enemy and yourself, and you win every battle. You think I’m a brainless pretty face, so I’ll satisfy your delusions about me. However, if we’re to collaborate, I needed to thoroughly investigate the cooperative project, didn’t I?" As she spoke, Bai Yiran’s gaze turned icy. "Did you know that one of those university students whose technology you stole jumped off a building and committed suicide this morning!"
Upon hearing that someone had committed suicide, the eyes of Chairman Liu and Chairman B were filled with shock; they never imagined it would lead to a fatality.
"Didn’t expect it would lead to a fatality, did you? And there’s more you haven’t anticipated!" Bai Yiran pulled out her phone showing the video Li Sha had forwarded to her earlier, and began playing it for Chairman Liu. "Those two students actually have a complete research video in their hands, but they were too intimidated by your power to expose it. Eventually, one of them developed depression, which led to his jumping off a building and committing suicide! You now bear a life on your conscience! Do you still believe Huamei International would invest money into your blood-stained project?"
Chairman Liu instinctively wanted to snatch Bai Yiran’s phone, but Li Sha immediately stepped forward to shield Bai Yiran and glared furiously at Chairman Liu and his group.
"Snatching my phone is useless; it’s merely a copy," Bai Yiran sneered. "Legally, that student who committed suicide might not be related to you, but forcibly plagiarizing others’ technology is illegal. Expect to face a lawsuit!"
After saying this, Bai Yiran turned to leave. But behind her came Chairman Liu’s anxious voice, "Yiran, the Liu and Leng families have been friends for generations. Considering our years of friendship, can’t you just..."
