Chapter 847 - 840: Encounter at the Restaurant
Ming Kai took Qiu Zi to the newly opened Cantonese restaurant in the city center. The decor was elaborate, and the owner had come from Hong Kong. In recent years, there have been more and more new immigrants coming from Hong Kong, possibly because there’s a larger population here, rapid development, and more business opportunities.
The restaurant’s environment was very refined, and Cantonese opera played inside the hall, immediately giving diners a sense of its uniqueness.
The restaurant was newly opened and in a great location, so it was quite crowded with diners. Ming Kai hadn’t reserved a table in advance, so the better spots were all taken, and the two of them had to sit in the middle of the restaurant.
Soon, a waiter came over with the menu and drink list. Ming Kai gestured to the waiter towards Qiu Zi, indicating for her to order first.
She took the delicate menu and was deeply impressed by the prices of the dishes. She always thought Ming Xuan was quite an expensive place, but this newly opened Cantonese restaurant was just as pricey as Ming Xuan.
"It’s really expensive here~" Qiu Zi said instinctively.
Ming Kai looked at her with a faint smile, "If it’s not expensive, how could it count as a price gouge meal?"
Qiu Zi grinned, quite satisfied with Ming Kai’s choice of restaurant, "Then I can go all out?"
"Sure, go ahead and order." Ming Kai again showed a doting expression.
Qiu Zi was taken aback and quickly bowed her head, burying her face in the menu. She felt somewhat uneasy, wondering what Director Ming meant, as his gaze seemed odd...
Qiu Zi ordered a few signature dishes, and then brazenly picked a few expensive ones, filling up the list without worrying about finishing it. Looking at the exquisite dishes on the menu, she figured these dishes were similar to the ones at Ming Xuan, small yet refined.
"Are you going to order more?" After ordering what she wanted, Qiu Zi handed the menu to Ming Kai. Although she thought she had ordered enough for both, Ming Kai still ordered a main dish and two servings of fish soup.
"The fish soup here is very good; try it later."
"Oh." Qiu Zi nodded.
Since he had to drive, Ming Kai didn’t order alcohol but opted for a fruit juice for Qiu Zi and a bottle of water for himself.
The restaurant’s service was quick. As the dishes arrived, Qiu Zi did not hesitate and began to eat heartily. Seeing Qiu Zi enjoying herself, Ming Kai’s face continuously wore a smile.
As they ate and drank, the atmosphere became lively. Ming Kai was no longer the stern figure from the hospital; in life, he was humorous and told jokes, though most were awkward cold jokes.
Qiu Zi finished the fish soup in her bowl. She was quite casual about eating; apart from maintaining eating etiquette with Western and French cuisine, she ate however she wanted with everything else. Like when she complained about the heat, she waited for it to cool before drinking, which nearly made her gag from the fishy smell.
Ming Kai found Qiu Zi’s actions amusing and reached out to wipe her mouth with a napkin.
Instinctively, Qiu Zi leaned back, only to see a group of people entering through the door, slowly making their way inside.
However, her eyes remained fixed on the man in the center of the group. He had flamboyant colored hair and a tall, upright figure. He was Yin Tianshen...
Qiu Zi sat in a daze, her grip on the soup bowl slipping due to shock, and it crashed to the ground with a sound.
The sound of a porcelain bowl breaking on the floor was unusually abrupt in the somewhat quiet restaurant, and in an instant, all eyes turned to Qiu Zi.
"Qiu Zi, are you okay?" Ming Kai asked anxiously, using a napkin to wipe her hands covered in fish soup.
Qiu Zi shook her head in a fluster, "I’m fine!" Raising her head again, she saw those deep eyes already had their gaze fixed on this side.
Startled, she quickly stood up, "I’m going to the bathroom!"
With that, Qiu Zi dashed to the ladies’ room as if fleeing.
Ming Kai stood stunned for a moment, puzzled, and looked towards the door, where there was no sign of anyone anymore.
